Fr. Michael has been a priest for 37 years and was ordained in 1980 by David Sheppard the former England cricketer who then was Bishop of Liverpool. He served a curacy in Kirkby Merseyside, then became Vicar in a team in the Black Country before moving to St Peter’s.
Fr Michael is married; he has two sons.
Fr. Michael studied Modern Languages-French and Spanish-as his first degree at Exeter University, spending an academic year teaching in a Lycee in Cambrai, France. Research in Latin American literature, politics and history took him to Liverpool University. Bishop Sheppard sent him to Oxford to gain a degree in Theology during which studies the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Advisor for Foreign Relations chose him, along with the present Dean of Worcester, to spend a semester at the Venerable English College in Rome and follow some courses in Moral Theology and Liturgy at the Pontifical Gregorian University.
Fr. Michael serves as Rector of the Benefice of Christ the King in which his parish is situated; he is also Anglican chaplain to St Augustine’s High School, chaplain to the Guild of the Servants of the Sanctuary in north-east Worcestershire and the adjoining part of Coventry diocese. He is Clergy Chairman of Worcester Forward in Faith and serves in similar capacity for the Missionary Society of St Wilfred and St Hilda. He is privileged to serve on the Bishop of Ebbsfleet’s Council of Priests and to represent the Bishop in the Diocese of Worcester. For 30 years he has been a Priest Associate of the Holy House of Our Lady of Walsingham and is Local Vicar of a religious congregation of priests: Societas Sanctae Crucis.
